The sign says:
PURGATORY FALLS TRAIL
1.2 miles to Falls
Leave the Wilderness Better than You Found It
It was a little confusing planning for this adventure, with different falls ("Upper" and "Lower"), closed parking areas, towing, 1/2 mile walk on the main road, and lousy Google maps. So I wound up kind-of following my instincts, and we arrived at this parking space in the woods, up a dirt road, across from the local gun range. To remove the suspense - we did not get towed!!
After a mile west on the dirt road, we encounter Purgatory Brook, with a nice swamp on the right:

We headed down the path to the left, which soon joined a nice babbling brook:

which immediately dropped and became "Purgatory Falls" (probably a GREAT story behind that name):

I then scrambled down to the lower-level:

It was a good hike back:

with a nice plaque in the woods:

A good day for a walk in the woods:

2.71 miles in 1 hour 29 minutes. A nice drive back home - Thank You God for these Great Days!
