Thursday, November 6, 2024 - This is a zoomed-in map of the New Hampshire "52 With A View" - only 14 left (yellow). I'm going to hike Potash Mountain today:
After my Breakfast-in-Boston, I headed NORTH. It was supposed to be a clear day:
It had cleared by the time I hit Exit 32 for the Kancamagus Highway:
Unfortunately, no one told THE MOUNTAINS:
I reached the parking area at noon:
Headed up The Trail - just keep following the signs/arrows:
YES - That Arrow is pointing ACROSS THE RIVER ("Downes Brook")! Downstream does look very helpful:
So I figure I might as well figure out a way across the middle - step-by-step:
I made it across, and up into the woods:
I crossed an old logging road - looking up-and-down:
The Trail does get vertical for a while:
1-and-1/2 miles in (54 minutes), I reached the first "Viewing Ledge". I was still 1/2 mile from The Summit:
The Trail goes around Potash Mountain, gaining elevation bit by bit. Keep an eye out for the Yellow Blazes:
30 minutes later, there are some great views up on Potash Mountain:
A little over 2 miles back down through The Woods (and Across The Stream):
I finished The Hike at about 2:40 - 4.19 miles in 2 hours 40 minutes:
The hikes are getting longer, and my ankle is holding up very well. Thank You God for this Wonderful "52 With A View" day!
For my listening pleasure today - a cd of 407 wma files ripped a long time ago:
various artists - Toga Rock, 1987 compilation album, last heard (in a blog) 8/30/2025. Also in this list-for-listening is "Frat Rock, Son of Frat Rock, etc":
various artists - 20 Greatest Hits 1968, 1968 compilation album, last heard (in a blog) never - interestingly, 1968 is the year I would pick where AM Radio started going downhill, to be replaced by albums (and album cuts) played on FM Radio (WBCN in Boston, WPLJ in New York City, WMMR in Philadelphia):
Lyle Lovett - Anthology Volume One: Cowboy Man, 2001 compilation album, last heard (in a blog) 7/13/2024 - a nice collection of songs by an artist I don't listen to very much:
James Taylor - The Best of ..., 2003 first Greatest Hits album, last heard (in a blog) never - sounds WONDERFUL :
Shameless Plug: if you enjoy this blog, you may like my other one about visiting Art Museums and National Parks (and hiking in the Rockies)
