Thursday, October 31, 2024 - This is a zoomed-in map of the New Hampshire "52 With A View" - I have 19 to go (yellow). I'll do Mount Kearsarge North today:
After THE hike-in-the-woods-in-the-snow from 2 weeks ago (by taking a trail on the North Side of a mountain), I'm only doing trails-from-the-SOUTH for the rest of this year:
After my Breakfast-in-Boston, I headed NORTH, and was parked by 11:40
Fast hike through the woods:
Then it got subtly steeper as I made my way up to some ledges:
And that is when I lost the trail. When I reached the top of the ledges, there was no path-into-the-woods, so I went back down the ledges until I saw a cairn, and followed it off to the left:
You can see how I went astray:
Pretty cool trail going around the backside of The Mountain (maybe a bit gnarly):
I reached The Summit (and its Fire Tower) at 1:45
There was a USGS Marker, and some pretty cool views from the top of The Fire Tower:
Very Nice Trail on the way back down:
Another Great Hike - 6.07 miles in 3 hours 27 minutes:
I headed home, south on Route 16 - since I had time, I was able to stop 1-and-1/2 hours from home to take some pretty pictures:
What a LOVELY Day! Thank You God for this wonderful "52 With A View" day!
For my listening pleasure today - music from my silver nano (only works when plugged into power):
Thompson Square - Just Feels Good, 2013 2nd album, last heard 10/11/2016 - I like their country-love-songs:
The Lumineers - The Lumineers, 2012 debut album, last heard 2/22/2017 - a very good "roots" album:
Counting Crows - 2016/08/03 Bangor, ME, last heard 11/12/2016 - GREAT CONCERT (yes, I was there!):
After the hike:
Bill Evans - Alone, 1970 album, last heard 8/04/2016 - very nice piano music, driving through New Hampshire:
Bastille - Bad Blood, 2013 debut album, last heard 2/27/2017 - time for some loud music:
Dave Matthews Band - Away From The World, 2012 8th studio album, last heard 2/27/2017 - ok, but delete - I have enough DMB:
David Baerwald - Bedtime Stories, 1990 debut solo album, last heard 2/27/2017 - He is the "better half" of David + David (excellent album "Boomtown"):
