My 17th (Mt. Moosilauke) 4,000 footer! (plus South Peak)

Finishing the "Southern Group", going right-to-left: Mount Passaconaway (8/21), Mount Whiteface (7/24), Middle Tripyramid and North Tripyramid (9/9), Mount Osceola and East Osceola (7/17), and Mount Tecumseh (6/22). Today's Mount Moosilauke is in the red circle:


Dartmouth maintains the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge on Ravine Road, so it is relatively easy to get "close" to the mountain. Up 93 to Exit 32, west on 112, then south on 118, then right up Ravine Road (dirt road, but graded):


Using Map My Walk, I went up the Gorge Brook Trail (3.1 miles) to the Mount Moosilauke summit. At the summit I saw one guy and then a dozen people, all wearing foul-weather gear (tops and bottoms) - I felt fine fine fine. I took a left (headed southwest) onto Moosilauke Carriage Road (which is the ridge road down to South Peak), and went 1.1 miles to South Peak (not "officially" a 4000 footer, but it was only an extra 0.1 miles to "bag" it). Then backtracked, then down Moosilauke Carriage Road 1.1 miles to Snapper Trail, then 3.0 miles back to my car. I had to be back in Manchester-by-the-Sea for dinner out tonight - I covered 8.71 miles in 3 hours 20 minutes. I covered about 4,600 feet in climbing elevation (2300 up and then back down):
